Mr. Wrobel serves as Sithe Global’s Chief
Executive Officer. He has over twenty-five years experience in the
power industry
managing the development and financing of projects in developed
and underdeveloped countries.
Mr. Wrobel founded Sithe Global in August 2004 to pursue international
energy development. Mr. Wrobel has spent his career founding and
managing companies that pursue international development of energy
and industrial projects. Mr Wrobel is also the founder and CEO of
Herakles Capital and Global Alumina Products Corporation.
Global Alumina is involved in the development and financing of
a 2.8 mtpa alumina refinery in the Republic of Guinea. In 2004,
Global Alumina successfully listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange
and is now traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Mr. Wrobel spent fifteen years at Sithe Energies, including as
Executive Vice President, and was responsible for worldwide business
development and project finance activities. Mr. Wrobel developed
Sithe’s business model helping it grow to one of the largest
independent power producers in the world including it being listed
on the New York Stock Exchange. Among the successful developments
overseen by Mr. Wrobel are the $260 million, 471 MW Rades II project
located in Rades, Tunisia, the $1.2 billion, 340 MW San Roque Hydroelectric
project in the Phillipines and the $1 billion, 1,000 MW Independence
project in New York. While at Sithe, Mr. Wrobel oversaw the development
and acquisition of more than fifty power plants worldwide.
Mr. Wrobel began his career in 1981 by co-founding Mitex, Inc.,
a Boston-based developer of small- scale hydroelectric projects.
Mitex was sold in 1986 to entity that then formed the nucleus of
Sithe Energies.
Mr. Wrobel holds a Bachelor of Science in both Economics and Management
Science from MIT.
